Exam Program/Curriculum Upper Secondary VMBO

Secondary Education

There are several sectors in upper secondary education vmbo. In neither of them history is mandatory. The consequence is that only about 37% of the vmbo students take part in the history exam.

The history exam consists of two parts:

1. A school exam (= 50% of the final grade)

2. A national exam on one day (in may) for all students (=50% of the final grade);

• History of the twentieth century

  •     * The Netherlands (1900-1914)

  •     * The First World War (1914-1918)

  •     * The Interbellum/ recovery and crisis (1918-1939)

  •     * The Second World War (1939-1945)

  •     * Europe and the world (1945-1989)

  •     * A new world order (since 1990)
