The process
 

stage 1  Task Definition

The central question of your research is:

Which are the most important differences between the ancient and the modern olympic games?

Consider in your research the following topics:

  1. the events in the ancient and modern games
  2. the prizes in the ancient and modern games
  3. the participants in the ancient and modern games
  4. the differences in clothing between the ancient and the modern games
  5. the situation in times of war
  6. the rituals in ancient and modern games
  7. the locations of the games
  8. the reception of the medalists
  9. Amateurs or professionals

Choose (with your teacher) the way you will present the results of your research. This might be a paper, a poster, a power-pointpresentation, a website, an oral presentation etc.

stage 2  Resources

You may find information in books as well in digital resources.

stage 3  Searching for information

Every member of the group does research on some of the nine topics. Perhaps you know even more topics. Try to find all kind of information (texts, pictures) that might be useful to answer the subquestions and the central question.

stage 4 Selecting the information

Not everything you have found will be useful to answer the question(s). Select the most important information for every one of the nine topics.

Note:

What information is useful will depend on the way you will present the results of your research.

stage 5  Presenting the results of your research

Present the information of your research, by answering the central question, considering at least the nine topics.
